Spb Software House Releases Spb Pocket Plus

December 16, 2002 - Spb Software House, a leading developer of Pocket PC Software, announced today the release of Spb Pocket Plus - software specifically designed to fill the gaps in the Pocket PC 2002 operating system.

When Microsoft first released the Pocket PC 2002 platform, it became quickly apparent there were gaps in the functionality that users were craving: the "close" button not actually closing applications (instead they were minimized), Pocket Internet Explorer unable to function in full screen mode or with multiple windows, repeating alarms were removed (making the Pocket PC a poor alarm clock), and a smattering of other issues.

After six months of research and development into these user issues, Spb Pocket Plus was born. With a singular goal of improving the Pocket PC experience for users by subtly altering the operation of key applications, Pocket Plus will rapidly become one of the "must have" applications for the platform.

Spb Software House Chief Technical Officer Vassili Philippov is thrilled about this new release: "The Pocket PC is a powerful platform for us to develop on, and we're confident that Pocket Plus has a strong future ahead of it - whenever Microsoft releases a new version of their operating system, there will undoubtedly be areas in which users will want improvements - Pocket Plus will continually evolve to meet their needs. It will truly be a 'never ending' process of improvements and refinements.

With this software installed, Pocket PC 2002 users can finally close their windows instead of 'smart minimizing' them - this allows for better memory management and will stop from consuming system resources in the background.

Users of wireless Pocket PCs will especially appreciate the enhancements to Pocket Internet Explorer: now they can run several Pocket Internet Explorer windows either in normal mode or in full screen mode. No longer will users have to suffer through the constant clicking of going back and forth from page to page.

Repeating alarm functionality, removed in the Pocket PC 2002 release, is now back and better than ever. Users can have the alarm repeat at the normal system volume (as they could with the original Pocket PC release), they can opt for maximum volume, or an option for ascending volume where the alarm gets louder over time.

Other Pocket Plus enhancements include a Today screen plug-in that offers users a quick status on battery life, storage memory, brightness setting, and a quick-launch zone for applications.

Spb Pocket Plus is also localized in several languages: users can install an add-on language pack and all the interface of Spb Pocket Plus will appear in their national language - without the need to reinstall the software.

Pricing and Availability:

A free 15-day trial version of Spb Pocket Plus is available for download from both PocketGear and Handango. A registered version is available for the price of US$9.95. For More information about Spb Pocket Plus please visit Spb Software House website.
